Liam McGregor Simmons and more to come!!

So, here is this one that is an "Announcement Canvas." When it is completely finished, it will be connected to the other smaller canvas with ribbon and they will hang it on the hospital door since they will be there for a few days. Then, they can take it home and either keep them together or separate them! The cross looks a little "gothic" in the pic, but it looks more cowboy-ish in person. I wanted to do 4 different boots in the corners of the larger one, but there just wasn't room, so I went with some ropes and lassos from the decor pics they sent me. Don't worry, the background is supposed to look worn/distressed! It looks pretty cool in person. Hope you all like it!

Next, I'll be doing one that says "cheer up Charlie" in place of the Willy Wonka writing. The canvas will resemble this ticket itself. This one should turn out so cute. I love the bright colors and candy!

After that (or maybe at the same time), I'll be doing one to match this bedding. A good friend of mine wants something whimsical for her daughter, Maggie. She sent me some great pictures with lots of flowers and butterflies. Both were really cute and abstract; that will be fun to paint. Stay tuned for more pics of new art!!

Good Stuff!!

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE (hint, hint) when people send me pics of my paintings either being given as a gift or up on the wall in the nursery/child's room!!! It makes my day!! Here are a few that I have gotten recently that I have been meaning to post!! Thanks to those who sent these to me!!

"God Bless Cowboys"

Here are some VERY preliminary pics of the 2nd winner's painting from the Spring Fling hosted by Chic Chik Media last month. Liam McGregor Simmons is set to be born on June 17th. I really debated for a while whether to do a spur or a sheriff-type star for the background, but after studying the decor pic Brandy sent me, I decided to go with the regular star. I really tried to make it have some dimension and texture as her stars do in the pic. Also, I wanted the painting to look worn/distressed like the decor so it wasn't all new and shiny looking next to all the great, rustic decor they have chosen. I really like the way it's coming along. It still needs a lot of work, but it's getting there. I went with the font similar to the one on the "God Bless Cowboys" sign they have, but really liked a two-toned lettering I saw; what do you guys think about that part? Well, I've got to add some boots around the star and name and have some cool ones picked out. Also, we are doing a cross on the smaller painting and I have the design of the cross ready. I designed the cross to be simplistic and classic, but also added a little bit of a cowboy flair to the edges similar to the end of the "T" on the "Heart of the West" sign they have. I have distressed the back of that canvas as well so that it matches, but can be used separately as well. Tell me what you all think of these ideas...I will be back very soon with more pics.

Some decor that will be in the room.

This is the sheet they are going with; I love the rustic colors to match the great decor.

Here is what I have come up with so far.

There is the smaller canvas that will hang below the larger one from some coordinating ribbon. This smaller canvas will feature the cross I mentioned earlier and also have areas to list the baby's date and time born as well as height and weight.

Here's a brighter picture!

Hope you all enjoyed these...be back soon with more!

Romeo, Romeo, where for art thou...

Here is the painting that Sarah B. of TX won through the Spring Fling giveaway over on Tip Jnkie or Today's Creative Blog. She decided to have it done for her nephew who is turning 1 today! I sent this to Michigan on Wednesday!

Here is a painting I was doing as a "Thank You" to Angelica in California who ordered the 4 paintings for Lourdes and Antonio. She let me keep the paintings for a few extra weeks to show at an expo and I wanted to show my appreciation. She loves this scripture and it really means a lot to her. I sure hope she enjoys it.

I'll have some more pics soon for the other winner of the Spring Fling. Brandy in TX is having a boy on June 17th and I've got to get going on it. I've started both canvases, but neither are ready to show at this point. I hope to get a lot done on them this weekend.

Happy Friday to everyone. Have a great weekend!

God Bless all the Flood Victims and their Families as well as all the First Responders, Rescuers, and Volunteers in Tennessee and the Surrounding Area

From now until the end of July (and maybe beyond), 25% of any profits from paintings/lessons, etc...will be donated to the American Red Cross in Tennessee to aid in assisting flood ravaged areas of Tennessee. Please pray for all those affected by the 500 year flood Tennessee, as well as many surrounding states, experienced this past weekend. Not only have people lost their homes, belongings, and vehicles, many lives have been lost in this very tragic event. Many, many of those affected did not have flood insurance because they were no where near the 100 year flood plain, so please pray that whoever can help will help. So far, there have been no reports of looting, etc... because so many have pulled together to help their fellow neighbors. Thanks you all for your prayers and I will give a update at the end of each of the upcoming months to tell you how much has been donated as well as report anything else we can do to help those in great need.
